Gaining Qualifications The designation, which a person earns to assure that he/she is a good professional in performing some kind of task or job, is called qualification or certification. There are also other very famous names, like “trade certification”, “professional certification”, and “professional designation”. If you are looking to earn a qualification in some area, you must first search a Professional society. Some of the certifications, which you will earn are going to be valid for a specific time period, or may need to be renewed periodically. If you are certified for some product, then you will have to renew your qualification, when the lifetime of the product ends. If you want to get a complete renewal of your certification(s), there are specific requirement. The student must show that he has the necessary knowledge. The organizations offer the so called ”continuing education”, or CEU (continuing education units). This means that you will have to prove, that you are a real professional. The certifications (or qualifications), aren’t earned from the government, but from a Professional society. This is very important. Off course, there are some specific jobs, which require by law, a demonstration of some knowledge or ability. However this is something else- here you will get the so called “licensure”. Usually the state agencies issue the professional licenses in the U.S.A. The difference between the certifications and the licenses is only one- the terms of the legal status. The process of assessment is similar in the most of the cases.
The certifications are needed for people, who want to work in the industrial sectors sphere like technology, construction, and aviation. Certificates are needed also for finance and health care. Off course the aviator certificates, are the hardest to be taken. Their issue is regulated, and strictly controlled by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). |
